FAQ's

I want to book in a tattoo, how do I get started ?

Sol Temple Tattoo is proud to have talented and professional resident artists tattooing out of our private space.

As we are a private tattoo studio, each artist handles their own appointments and have their own booking procedures and pricing.

The best way to get started is to see which artist would be best suited for the tattoo you want, if you are unsure we are happy to help just send us an email.

Contact your preferred artist to get the booking process started.

Do I really have to be 18 to be tattooed ?

Yes this is law in Queensland, you must 18 years or older to be tattooed. No exceptions and parental consent doesn't matter. You're better to get your ideas together and book in a free consultation with us so that when you turn 18 you can legally be tattooed.

We check photo ID at your appointment and you will lose your deposit if you are underage and will not be tattooed.

So, do tattoos hurt ?

This depends on the person, location, duration and many other factors. Everyones pain threshold is different but generally yes tattoos are supposed to hurt. Some people feel it more than others. Make sure to get a good nights rest, have a big breakfast and prepare yourself mentally for your tattoo to reduce the pain.

Do you accept Afterpay, Inkpay or any payment plans ?

We accept Afterpay online for our aftercare and merch although we cannot accept Afterpay for tattoos.

We do not offer Inkpay and we accept cash only for tattoo payments.

Can you cover up my old tattoo ?

Usually yes however this is always up to each individual artist.

Cover ups require the new design to be strategically placed over the existing ink to hide the old tattoo so of course this depends on the artist capabilities and what you want to cover your existing tattoo with.

Free consultations are usually required for all cover ups to ensure that your artist knows how to approach the tattoo and you can be clear about what you want to achieve.

Sometimes your artist will recommend laser removal before hand which is always in your best interest and for the final outcome of your desired tattoo.

What if I need a touch up ?

Touch ups are something required for areas of the skin that the ink hasn't taken to properly or something has happened during the healing process.

Once again each artist will have their own policies regarding touch ups.

Generally touch ups are free however touch ups required due to negligence of aftercare will usually require you to pay for the touch up appointment.

Do you sell tattoo aftercare ?

Yes we do! We recommend and sell Solaris Tattoo Supply instore and online. Solaris has created products that are 100% vegan, cruelty free and made from only certified organic and natural ingredients made right here on the Sunshine Coast.

Our studio uses Solaris products during the tattoo process and our clients love it as their choice of aftercare.

For full transparency this is a brand that we have created to offer people an eco friendly, fully organic and vegan tattoo aftercare. We supply many studios with our aftercare and have amazing feedback from clients and artists alike.

What does Vegan Tattooing actually mean ?

What do we actually mean by vegan tattooing ?

Veganism is a way of life for many people around the world which goes far beyond what is on their plate. Vegan means avoiding animal products in food, clothing, furniture and anything else that an animal had to suffer for to create said product.

All of our businesses and endeavours live by this mantra. We are a vegan, family owned business and our studio has gone to great lengths to ensure everything used in the tattoo process and in the day to day runnings of our studio is free from all animal products and never tested on animals.

This goes much further than just the tattoo inks which seems to be the most peoples concerns when it comes to vegan tattoos. If you'd like to know more please send us an email.

And what does Sustainable Tattooing mean ?

Sustainable, eco friendly, environmentally friendly, eco conscious, there are many words for this but essentially there is a lot of wastage and single use plastic in the tattoo industry and to keep doing what we love everyday. We have and are constantly making steps to reduce our carbon footprint and try to encourage fellow tattoo artists and studios to do the same by replacing all plastic items with biodegradable or compostable bioplastics.

There are still a few crucial items used in tattooing that there are no bioplastic options available although our sister brand Solaris is working to change this.

All of our packaging and mailing bags for online orders are 100% compostable, our business cards, flyers and such are made from 100% recycled materials and some even contain seeds that you can plant and grow bee attracting plants and we have recently teamed up with One Tree Planted to plant a tree for every every tattoo made in our studio!

We are not perfect, we are simply conscious of our impact and try to do better.

Trees for tattoos ?

Yes, this is something we have wanted to do for a while and are so excited to partner with One Tree Planted to try and help with our climate crisis we are currently facing. This is just a small way we can help.

Do you use Vegan Inks ?

Yes, our whole studio is vegan and cruelty free, not just the inks. There is much more to a complete vegan tattoo than just the inks, just ask us if you want to know more!

Can I bring a friend with me ?

Unfortunately due to CovidSafe business plans we require that you come to your appointment alone to ensure we can adhere to social distancing within out studio.

Is your studio licensed ?

Sure are! We are licensed (Studio Licence No. 4068143), council approved and insured. We take our safety and our clients safety very seriously and you can ensure that we are professionals.

Artists at Sol Temple Tattoo are professional and hold all qualifications and infection control certificates to perform their tasks.

How much does a tattoo cost ?

This varies so much per artist and design that the only way to know is to get in touch with your preferred artist about your ideas and placement.

Consultations are always best to have so you have a clear understanding about the tattoo and price range.

Do you tattoo hands, necks, hands, etc ?

This depends on the artist and the client. Sure we would love to do it for you but we want to you to be sure you are ready for such a commitment for certain tattoos, just chat to your artist.

Alright, I'm ready to book in, what now ?

Send us an email if you are unsure who you think would be best suited for your tattoo and we can recommend an artist, however the best way is to contact he artist directly, this saves time going back and forth between us, them and you.
